Each of Brownsburg, Indiana's parks have unique features that welcome guests to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Virgil Park, the newest in the Brownsburg Parks system, didn't disappoint and is a welcome addition not only as a community play area but another trailhead for the popular B&O Trail

Virgil Legacy

Virgil Family honor the memory of Diana Virgil, known as the "Mother of the B&O Trail"

Virgil Park officially opened in May 2024 and was dedicated to Diana and Hall Virgil who were instrumental in creating the B&O Trail that originated from the abandoned B&O Railroad line.

The trail which runs along the southern edge of the park is easily accessible providing more parking and restroom facilities for trail users.

Nature & Wetlands

Virgil Park's Pond Complete With A Boardwalk

Virgil Park spans more than six acres and boasts a unique feature -- a boardwalk that provides park guests with the opportunity to experience the park’s beauty and view wildlife up close. Interpretive signage along the boardwalk provides educational information about the wetlands ecosystem and potential animals you might find on the property.

Playground

Virgil Park's playground features many unique elements

Virgil Park's playground boasts traditional play elements like ropes to climb and a turf surface with rolling hills.

My favorite part of the space and what makes it unique is that it includes several natural elements, such as logs and stones, to encourage kids to jump and climb and a water table with a pump.

Outdoor Fitness Equipment & Other Amenities

Fitness equipment welcomes guests to Virgil Park

Park guests can take a break from exercise on the B&O Trail and hit up the outdoor fitness equipment, a unique feature to Brownsburg parks. Additionally, Virgil Park provides a picnic shelter with a year-round restroom facility.

With its natural elements that preserve existing wetlands and prairie, half-mile trail network with boardwalks, an exercise area, picnic shelter with restrooms and playground area, Virgil Park's distinctive features make it a great place to explore.
